The hermitage or church of Cristo de la Luz, is a building in the Spanish city of Toledo, in its historic center.

Of the ten mosques that the city had, it is the best preserved.

In Muslim times it was a small oratory linked to an access door to the city for the use of newcomers to Toledo or for preparation upon departure.

It was built in the year 999, the time of splendor of the Caliphate of Córdoba, as stated in the epigraphic strip on its access facade.

Different elements, mainly an apse, were added in the 12th century, after the Christian conquest of the city, when Alfonso VI ceded the building to the knights of the order of San Juan, who established a hermitage there dedicated to the Holy Cross. .

This extension is considered the oldest known Mudejar art show.

The name it ended up carrying as a Christian temple comes from the substitution of the crucified Christ that was placed when it was consecrated as a hermitage, by an image of the Virgin of Light that later disappeared.
