The Plaza de la Asunción is a monumental square in the San Dionisio neighbourhood.
This square is one of the most outstanding architectural and artistic ensembles in Spain, where three styles come together: Renaissance, Mudejar and Neoclassical.
Formerly known as Plaza de Los Escribanos (Scribes' Square) because this is where the city's scribes used to work, at certain times and in stalls. This location is logical considering the proximity of the Cabildo, the old Casa de la Justicia and the Calle de los Letrados.
In this square are the Cabildo Antiguo, the Church of San Dionisio and the Palace of the Countess of Casares.
