Hope Portal

Dedicated to St. Joseph, this portal has a similar structure to the central portico, with sloping two-channel walls that follow the pentalobulated form of the archivolt. Here we can find the representations of the Spouses of the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph, the Family of Jesus (including St. Joachim and St. Anne), The Wise Man and the Child Jesus, the Death of the Holy Innocents, The Flight into Egypt and The Boat of St. Joseph, in which Joseph assumes the role of helmsman guiding the Catholic Church. Various tools can also be seen: a saw, a mallet, a chisel, a square, a screwdriver, a hammer and an axe. In reference to the flight to Egypt and symbolizing the hope of life, domestic animals such as geese, geese or ducks are incorporated, representing the fauna of the Nile, as well as elements of the flora of Egypt. The culmination of the portico presents a prominent pinnacle similar to the crags of Montserrat, specifically the Cavall Bernat, with the Latin inscription "Salva nos".
