Built above an earlier structure of Phoenician-Punic origin, the Alcazaba of Malaga is a palatial fortification from the Islamic era.
It dates back to the Muslim era and is situated at the base of Mount Gibralfaro, next to the Roman Theatre of Malaga and across from the Palacio de la Aduana, where the Andalusian defensive castle is located. This area of the city is unique because it offers a chance to see the fusion of Roman, Andalusian, and Renaissance cultures in a small area.
