Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabárceno

The Cabárceno Nature Park is a natural park located in the Pisueña valley, 17 kilometres from Santander, in a former iron extraction mine, in the town of Cabárceno, in the municipality of Penagos.

The Cabárceno Park carries out research work related to the conservation of endangered species, as well as environmental education.

The park is known for the semi-freedom regime of some animals. Particularly after the rhino area, deer, fallow deer and Gibraltar monkeys can sometimes be seen among visitors' vehicles.

There are also botanical trails that allow you to see different types of plants, usually located next to the most visited places.

The park takes advantage of the sites of the former Cabárceno iron mines, and some of the industrial structures can still be seen inside.

In September 2016, the park inaugurated a cable car that runs around the entire site.
