Since the early years of the 21st century, the castle has been provided with diverse cultural and didactic contents that recreate the history of the castle and its inhabitants.
The visitable rooms of the museum were the result of the restorations carried out in the second half of the 19th century by the owner of the castle at that time, Eugenia de Montijo, Empress of France by her marriage to Napoleon III and descendant of the Marquis of Villena. During the tour of these rooms, the life of this Spanish noblewoman who became regent of the French empire on three occasions and who ordered the restoration of the castle of Belmonte in the mid-nineteenth century is explained.

The museum allows the visitor to visit the walkway, between battlements and towers. From the north tower you can enjoy the view of the town of Belmonte, from where a panel specifies the main monuments that can be seen from the height of the castle: the Collegiate Church of San Bartolomé ordered to be built by the Marquis of Villena, the old fortress of the Infante Don Juan Manuel currently rebuilt as the first sale of Don Quixote in La Mancha, the hospital of San Andrés, the convent of the Conceptionist mothers, the Plaza del Pilar, the convent of the Trinitarians and the wall that from the protective castle embraces the old town of Belmonte.
It is also possible to visit the keep, as well as the parade ground and the dungeon.
