You are in the village of Trasalba, in the municipality of Amoeiro, a few kilometres from the city of Ourense. This you see before you was the family home of Ramón Otero Pedrayo, one of the most relevant Galician intellectuals of the 20th century. Currently, the building houses the headquarters of the Otero Pedrayo Foundation, the institution that, at present, is responsible for the study and dissemination of his career and for watching over his legacy.
Much of his narrative work is set here. Novels as important for Galician literature as Os camiños da vida (The paths of life), Arredor de sí (Around oneself) or Pantelas, home libre, take place, to a large extent, in this house and its surroundings. In addition, within these walls, he completed and signed such significant works as: A romería de Xelmírez (1933), Devalar (1935), La vocación de Adrián Silva (1944), O libro dos amigos (1952) or, the last novel he published during his lifetime, O señorito da Reboraina (1959).
